When our alma mater, Mount Union, advanced to the Division III Football National Championship, we decided to host a viewing party in DC for local alumni and their family and friends. More than twenty people joined the fun at Penn Social as we cheered on our Purple Raiders. The group included a current student, a professor, and alumni who now call the DMV home. We look forward to continuing the tradition (knock on wood) should the team advance to the Stagg Bowl in 2015.
10/1 UPDATE: A huge thank you to everyone who donated. Because of you I exceeded my goal and raised more $1000 dollars in support of the Washington Humane Society.
On Sunday, October 26, I'll be running the 39th Marine Corps Marathon as a Washington Humane Society charity partner—and I need your help! WHS is a great organization that does tremendous work for animals in need in the D.C. area.
Completing this marathon, in addition to raising support and awareness for D.C.'s animals, is an exciting adventure I'm eager to tackle with the help and support of friends and family like you. Whether you're able to offer words of encouragement, contribute financially, or provide valuable insight—any and all support is welcome! Donation page: http://bit.ly/supportwhs
And check out this fun video Dani and I put together of my training around DC!
We introduced the Frost family to soccer the best way we know how: by taking in a D.C. United match at RFK Stadium. Decked out in her new jersey, Dani's cousin Katie was enamored by the fact that she matched thousands of other people. Highlights of the game included popcorn, cotton candy, and mascot Talon.
The 2013 Gold Cup Quarterfinals featuring USA vs. El Salvador and Costa Rica vs. Honduras was played before a sold out crowd of more than 71,000 fans at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. Home of the Baltimore Ravens, this doubleheader was our first time visiting the historic port city together. It was a great time, even though we got soaked, both from the rain shower and beer shower after five U.S. goals!
Shortly before my 24th birthday, Dani surprised me with Ohio State football tickets. Just a few nights before the Buckeye's Big Ten matchup versus Purdue, she revealed that we had two tickets in the lower bowl and would be flying to Columbus the next day! The weekend ended up being a blast: tailgating with friends outside Ohio Stadium, The Best Damn Band In The Land, and a thrilling 29-22 overtime victory for the Scarlet and Gray. A special thanks to fellow Mount Union Raider Conner Britlinger for the great seats.
